Brit Row’s Butterfly rig chosen for the Oasis UK tour’s 19 dates

Great Britain, November 2008 - The sound on the UK tour by Oasis, part of their 2008/2009 world trek, just had to be handled by Britannia Row Productions, the legendary London rental company that owns an Outlinearray comprising 128 “Butterflies” - says the Brescia manufacturer.

In fact, on FOH chores Brit Row used a Butterfly system consisting of 82 elements (CDH 483 Hi-Packs) supported by 30 Subtech 218; the system was digitally controlled by Dolby Lake processors and amplified by Outline T9 power amps (2 x 4800W on 2 Ohms, a single rack unit and weighing in at 12 kg).

These were FOH engineer Bruce Johnston’s comments: “I really liked the sound of the system. The horns were very powerful and exactly suited what I was looking for with Oasis. After a few shows, the system really started to get up and go and I got lots of comments saying that it was the best Oasis had ever sounded. With fifteen Subtech 218 subs per side we had some amazing low end happening and really got the room shaking. We had no issue with the system’s capabilities and were able to get the volume needed for a band like Oasis. The system just kept getting louder if we needed it. So we had a great all-round result and I wouldn't hesitate to use the system again.”

System Engineer Davide Lombardi commented: “I consider the Butterfly a perfect system for arena tours – small and easy to rig, but with a big beefy sound and a plenty of headroom, which is needed for this kind of music. It's also very precise and this helps me a lot when I aim it, giving us less problems with reverberant rooms.”
